Running a business in Kyotanba for 70 years, focusing on serving delicious food.

Izutsuya started a business as an inn on the post town road. At that time, Tamba was known for its high-quality ingredients, and was bustling with peddlers who came to buy the finest products for a tribute to the Emperor. Eventually, roads were built and transportation became more convenient, and our business changed from inns to cattle herding.
Beside that, we started running a butcher shop around 1950. We have continued to refine Tamba's special products such as "Tamba beef" and offer them as special delicacies with a spirit of hospitality towards our customers.

Izutsuya has thoroughly scrutinised the quality of fat, lean meat, marbling, weight and has independently sought for standards for truly deliciousness meat. After many trials and errors, we soon gained a reputation for "Izutsuya's meat is delicious" ,and now we have many customers who come to buy our meat from a distance.

We use the sensibilities of a craftsman to make delicate adjustments, such as cutting the same meat for yakiniku into a slightly thicker cut as today's meat is softer. With this consideration, we have achieved the satisfaction of "always delicious'' meat.

Creating the satisfying meat quality ourselves.

In order to pursue our ideal meat, there are limits to what we can purchase at the market. Therefore, since around 1910, Izutsuya has set up its own farm near its main store and has been producing Tamba beef. This facility is an experimental field like a dream. We have been trying our best to find out what kind of food is the best to feed and how to raise the animals in order to consistently produce the ideal meat, and we have been able to breed them ourselves since 2020.

In order to pursue our ideal meat, there are limits to what we can purchase at the market. Handling everything from production to sales, and we continue to pursue our passion.

Izutsuya is not only a company that processes and sells meat purchased at the market. By producing our own meat on our own farm, we are pursuing what we consider to be the ideal meat. We have also set up a restaurant in Kyoto city, and have carefully determined how customers would rate our meat and give feedback to our production. This unified management system allows us to pursue even more delicious meat.
